Privacy Policy — Discord Chat Bridge

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the MMORealms Discord Chat Bridge ("the Bot", "the Application", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and handles information when you use the MMORealms Discord-to-Minecraft chat synchronization service.

2. Data We Process

The Bot processes the following data in real time for the purpose of chat synchronization between Discord and Minecraft:

From Discord

Message Content: The text content of messages sent in the designated chat-sync Discord channel.
User Identification: Your Discord display name (effective name) and user ID.
Role Information: The name and color of your highest-ranked Discord role (for formatting display in-game).
Server Membership: Your member object within the Discord guild/server where the Bot operates.

From Minecraft

Chat Messages: The text content of messages sent by players in Minecraft in-game chat.
Player Username: The Minecraft username of the player sending the message.

3. How We Use Your Data

All data processed by the Bot is used exclusively for the following purpose:

Bidirectional Chat Synchronization: Relaying messages between Discord and Minecraft (and vice versa) so that players on both platforms can communicate with each other in real time.

The Bot formats Discord messages with role colors and display names for in-game display, and formats Minecraft messages with player usernames for Discord display. No data is used for any other purpose.

4. Data Storage and Retention

Message content, usernames, and associated metadata from the chat-sync channel are stored on MMORealms-owned infrastructure for moderation, chat history, and server administration purposes. Data is retained for more than 30 days. All stored data is encrypted at rest.

5. Data Sharing

Discord to Minecraft: Discord messages and user display information are forwarded to the connected Minecraft proxy server and broadcast to online players.
Minecraft to Discord: Minecraft player chat messages are forwarded to the designated Discord text channel.

Data is not shared with any third parties outside of this Discord-Minecraft bridge functionality.

6. Data Security

The Bot's authentication token is stored as a secure environment variable and is never exposed in source code or logs. All stored message data is encrypted at rest. The Bot operates on infrastructure managed by MMORealms.

7. User Rights and Opt-Out

Discord Users: You may opt out of having your messages relayed by not sending messages in the designated chat-sync channel. The Bot only processes messages from the specifically configured channel.
Minecraft Players: You may opt out by not sending messages in Minecraft in-game chat.
Data Deletion Requests: Users may request deletion of their stored chat data by contacting us through the Discord ticket system on the MMORealms Discord server, or by emailing admin@mmorealms.gg.

8. Children's Privacy

The Bot is part of the MMORealms Minecraft gaming network, which may be used by individuals under the age of 13. The Bot does not knowingly collect, store, or retain personal information from any user, including children. All data processing is transient and limited to real-time chat relaying.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted in the MMORealms Discord server and/or on our website.
